I was watching Dr Who since it was in black and white. Agreed, Tom Baker was the dog's whatsits in the role but I also enjoyed John Pertwee immensely.

Pertwee was a little stiff. Baker loosened it up...a WHOLE lot.
There were some bad ones....thankfully short-lived until their regeneration.

Then ya know th' "Ozzle-Twizzle" Pertwee.

Baker was THE Doctor in the '70's for me. And not sure between Liz Slayton and/or Louise Jameson, which was th' better companion.

I tend to th' savage, frankly. :smirk:

When the new series started i enjoyed it immensely. Really liked Eccleston as the Doctor and wish he'd stayed in the role longer. Then I discovered many of the early episodes on Netflix. Drove my wife nuts going through everything that was available for the original series. Rewatched them all from Hartnell to Sylvester. Have to admit that as much as I love Baker as the doctor, i gained a new appreciation for all of the other doctors, particularly the first 5 of them and the last one.

Baker #2 was still rubbish.

Now my ringtone on the wife's phone is the original Dr. who theme. :wink:
