The DARK side

Love the TR6, always have. Bugeye project will probably be mostly completed this summer.
I bought a 73 TR6 project last year that is waiting. Got a rebuilt overdrive tranny for it too!

I think someone called it a shined up tur*!

That was probably me. Man I was ****** at that guy. I called before hand and he completely misrepresented the car, drove 4 hours round trip for nothing. Fpr a sales manager of a car lot for 20 years he sure "didn't know" a lot of things.....:smirk: Too bad cause that car had nice paint. I don't know why someone would go to all the trouble unless someone owed somebody a favor.

Hard to go wrong w/ a BMW. I'd stay away from Porsche myself.

Fred,
where have you been? Haven't seen you post in awhile and we need updated pictures!
Billy,
that had to be you that flamed the guy in Mobile! Whoever it was nailed his a** to the wall and the ad was gone soon after!

I looked at Bs for awhile and like their looks, but something about them just didn't do it for me. I didn't fit in them as well as a Spridget which really surprised me. I may have to get a big ole Lotus Élan!

I understand -- ultimately I did sell mine for the Bugeye.

And I certainly wouldn't kick an Abarth out of my garage!

I honestly don't remember. IIRC that POS was still around a few weeks after I saw it.

I though about getting a Z3 a couple of years ago. Talked to a god friend who can easily afford it. His comment was "Don't do it unless you can get a new one or a long warranty or be ready to spend a lot of money on maintenance." Decided to just stay with the "Sprite in a Box" instead. Now if I can just get around to assembling it.

Was Mickey your "god friend"?

Ok guys. It was just a typo.:angel2:

Different deity; small "g". That's the type you sacrifice something like a bucket of chicken to. I recommend Popeyes.

Giving up Popeye's Chicken would be a sacrifice indeed!

"Love that chicken from Popeye's!"

Well, it IS Lent!

Drew,
. I may have to get a big ole Lotus Élan!

Surely you josh, Rut! About the same size with lighter weight. Only draw back is Lotus prices!:glee:

Kurt.

I gotta get what I can get my fat a** in! An Élan is the smallest car I've tried to wedge myself into.

I bought a '71 TR6 last October. I sold my MGB GT that was too nice to enjoy driving and too much work to keep ready to show, plus I wanted a convertible driver to enjoy. Seriously thought about a Miata or Z3 and then realized that putting $8000 in a TR6 was going to hold value and appreciate over the next several years. The Miata and Z3 will continue to depreciate to a certain point. I found a solid running and decent looking survivor for $7600. It has never been apart. Has some light rust in a few trouble spots but not the frame. It has been well maintained. So on the 3hr return trip from purchasing it, I had to ask myself. Why did I not do this sooner. It is a smooth driving car with the wonderful sound of a straight six. Adequate power and comfortable for my size. I'm doing a few mechanical repairs and some rust abatement so I can enjoy it this Summer. Now I have something to drive and get a few things done on my Sprite that need attention. I think the TR6s are the last affordable 6 cylinder British roadsters and the price will go up
