Got up Monday morning to leave for work before 6AM.
Snow everywhere,& the road wasn't plowed that goes by our house.
Went out to my truck ('94 Dakota 4WD),cleaned the windshield off,&
headed down the road to go to work.Got 1-1/2 blocks,& the wipers
quit working.Went another 1/2 block & decided that it wasn't worth
possibly get in a wreck.Turned around & parked in the driveway.
Since it was a "Snow Day" for my Wife,I took her car to work,
without problems. Only about 10 people made it to work.
Went by a shop on the way home,& they were able to fix my
truck the next day (my day off).
It could have been worse!

Smart move to turn around!
Back in the day when my older son was a cadet at NMMI (New Mexico Military Institute) down in Roswell, i had driven my Porsche 944 down to visit.

On the trip back we got hit with a freak blizzard (the road from Roswell on of the loneliest 3-hour stretches you can imagine).

It was past sunset about 1.5 hours into the trip, with near zero visibility, when my wipers quit! I had to keep reaching out my driver window with a gloved hand to wipe snow off. I kept my emergency flashers on and slowly made it home.

Anyway glad you made it ok!

I often times ask myself “why does this darn printer always run out of paper when I’m using it?”
That is another matter altogether - right up there with why do family members always return the car gas tank empty. :rolleyes2:

Because you're not using them?
Yes. Very possible. My TR6 wipers wouldn't go on. Not wanting to go through the gyrations of takng everything apart, I simply turned on the wiper switch after lifting the wipers away from the windshield and, by god, the wiper blades began to move. I turned the switch to the high speed and they came back. It may take a few minutes to see a result.

Same true when driving in dense ground-fog conditions on the coast- e.g. tule fog. Low visibility worsens at night. Use of high beams create a wall of white. Now, try driving southbound HWY 1 cliff-side near Big Sur in these conditions.
