Ok, Some of you remember my post about possibly getting a Jeep a while back. Well I let it lie for a long while, but it brought itsself back to me.
I was up at my cousins this weekend and he told me he really dosen't care to keep it around, so he offered it to me. I took a good close look at it. It's rusty. There's 3 spots on the right frame rail that need attention, and plenty of spots on the body that need patchin'.
So to make it pass Inspection I need to replace the fuel tank, patch the frame,an exhaust, and make sure all the lights work.
It'll need new brake hoses soon, and I'm sure it'll need plenty of new stuff as I find it.
But the initial inventment is zilch, and I know it's history (it's family history is a big part of why I want to bother with it)
So sometime soon It'll be coming home to "Banjos Home for Orphaned Cars" and put into gentle daily service. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Like I've got room for another rusty heap /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Your building quite the odd collection /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Go for it!...To many cars never hurt nobody, physically that is.....mentally is a whole nuther story...

So, now you have to change your signature photo again to include your "non-British" boarders!

This must be the week for "free cars from relatives".

I got a free 12 year old Ford Escort GT from my sister-in-law. No one else in the family wanted it
Gentley driven and in excellent shape.
My son-in-law wants to build a "learner" track car and I'd like something with a roof and wipers for the longer, wet-weekend events. So this will suit us both.
Not my first choice, but the price was right.

There's already a German spy in there if you look closely.
I'm really excited. I've wanted a Jeep forever (ironically enough, in large part, beacuse of this one) and now I feel like I can really get into an American vehicle.
It's like a Ying and Yang balance. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Update. I took some parts up to the farm this weekend. WIthin 10 minutes I had 4 inflated tires, and a nicely idling motor. It was just begging for a short "woods-walk". So I went for a little run.
It was just what I needed. I was dodging trees, rocks and big ol' mud holes the whole way. YEEEE HAAWWW!
I'm lovin it! All my freebiees till now have come with a box-o-motor parts. this being able to drive one of my projects is new to me.

I was lookin for a jeep when I decided on buying my Toyota 4-runner. I have only had it in 4wd for about 15 minutes so far.... 5 of those before I had to rebuild the motor. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Main reason for not going with a jeep - I couldn't find one for less than $10K here.

Same here Kenny. I wound up buyin my Pathfinder cause I coulden't find a Wrangler or CJ in my price range. I've used my 4X plenty of times, and I do love my Pathfinder, but I always have, and still want, a Jeep. So I'm goin nuts waiting to have this thing road-ready
