I've lashed a five-drawer steel file cabinet to the luggage rack of the MGB, a new 26" color (CRT) TV to the boot-lid of the Elan... once had a 12' Christmas tree and three of us in a B (top down for that).
Properly lashed down and secured, that 'fridge transport may have been done... on SLOW speed streets and a short distance, anyway.
