The bare look

Whats everybodys opinion on leaving the conv top off completely and just using a tonneau. I like the cleaner look, and I hate the clanging and space usage of the top.
Im one of those who only pull the B out in nice weather, so the top is only used in the garage.
Also, how about a piece of mahogany on the trunk bulkhead to match my new wheel and shift knob? I dont want to ruin the looks, so whats your thought on that too. I like the wood look but dont know if thats cheesy or what.
I'm redoing most of my interior, so nows the time to do it right. Wood or no wood? Top or no top? Stereo or no stereo?(already answered that one.)

I'm slowly changing all my tops to the packaway frames - out of sight in the trunk!

Can that be done on ANY car Tony? I LOVE the look of a car with stowaway tops.

Janel....Binabox has a "PACKAWAY" top...PACKAWAY means you disassemble the top & frames & store them in the trunk!

Your rubber bumper car has a Michelotti "STOWAWAY" top system....STOWAWAY means it folds down behind the seats using either the Michelotti frames or the scissor frames

yes, any MGB can be converted to a PACKAWAY top!

oh, I didn't do the above just for you - I did it for everybody who gets confused!

Okay. I was confused! I like the packaway!!! That might be a laterdowntheroad project for Emma then!

Get rid of the top. I leave my PACKAWAY top at home most of the year and only use a tonneau.

Don't put the wood in. It's very, very rare that I see a wood panel in an MGB that doesn't look out of place and cheap.

Leave the radio out as well! I have no radios in any of my MGs and to be completely honest it's a very rare occasion that I miss them. I've learned how to not rely on other people talking and singing through a speaker to entertain me and I enjoy the drive just that much more now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Click HERE to see how my car looks with the PACKAWAY hood removed and tonneau installed.

The packaway tops are nice for the clean look, but they were called "Erector sets" for a reason. They really aren't that bad, but I would just take into consideration how, or rather, when you drive. If it's more a fair weather car, then by all means pick your favorite top. but if it's more of a "daily driver", the stowaway is gonna get old.
But I really shoulden't be talking, It's starting to rain and I gotta get my hood and side curtians out of the boot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

We'll be scurrying in the rain a LOT to get the top up because we'll drive her constantly!!!

Hmmm, theorectically I don't even have to BUY a top, just a tonneau!

yes...one regret that I have is buying a new folding top for Dolly Clementine...I have not had it up since I put in on two years ago, as I have two tonneaus that are always on or handy. It looks so lumpy! I wish I had kept that folding top that I gave to Chuck instead...BTW, what ever became of Chuck???
