My son is trying to thin out his small back yard in New Orleans, <span style="font-weight: bold">way</span> too much was planted there by the previous owner. He and I cut down and removed, with great effort, a 30-ft-tall date palm last weekend. Next to go would be a very large, healthy and producing orange tree. Sadly, it was just in the way. He hated to just whack it down, like the palm, and haul it off. Why not post it on Craigslist?
The next day, it was gone, root ball and all, with no damage to anything else in the yard. My son claims the couple dug it up by themselves and lifted it over the back fence to take to their own house 2 blocks away. (He says they knew the backyard neighbors well) No way, I said. I personally think they rented a Sikorsky Skycrane. Truly amazing what you can get rid of with Craigslist.
