The 4th trip to Dobbs Tire

Made the 4th trip to Dobbs Tire this evening. Dahubby went along and just stood waaaaaaaaaaay back and watched. After a very one-sided conversation, I'm getting 4 new tires, (to replace the 4 new tires I got last Wednesday) 4 new tubes, (no charge ma'am) they're paying for the rim bands I just ordered from Moss (because I asked them to) and they paid the bill for the tire repair in Michigan and tossed an extra $50 credit on my card (for my inconvenience)

Wasn't even a challenge. And here I was all prepared for a fight. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

JB, Recons how I should ah told them you left the rim bands out!---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

I bet you could cut the tension in the air with a knife. can you imagine the uncomfortable silence while the tires were getting put on? ugh.

Was no tension in the air whatsoever. They were more than happy to oblige the little lady. After a brief lesson in life according to Janel.

And of course, we're still waiting to get the rim bands from Moss. So the story isn't complete yet. One more trip to Dobbs. IF they get it right, will be my last trip there. If they mess up, ya'll know about it.

If they do mess up, I am sure that everyone here will swear that you were with them at the time the technicians went missing.

Instead of rim bands, I believe most wire wheel installers are using a wide PVC tape. That's what was used on my wire wheels with tubes. I don't think there is anything wrong with rim bands though .. it's just probably cheaper. Also, they should remove all labels from the inside of the tires and dust talcum powder inside the tire to keep the tubes from chafing.

Also some good info here (check out the pdf article and the service tour)

Cheers,

Problem was, these guys didn't use anything, no tape, no rubberbands, no silicone, nothing! Thanks for the links John!
