The 2 1/2" Of Extra Leg room in A Bugeye.

Thought I would start a new thread in response to questions about finding extra leg room in a Bugeye.
Because I had to cut a way so much of the right side of the car I could see the factory inserted a sloping panel from about midway of the front of the footwell to the floorboard.
Removal of that panel will give you about 2 1/2" of additonal leg room - caution must be used as I'm certain the panel was installed to stiffen & strengthen the outer panel as well as the inner panel of the footwell. I still don't have photos but have attached (I hope) page 40 of the VB catalog and you can see it in the lower right of the page.
Removal of the panel on the left (drivers) side would necessitate fabricating a new mount for the dimmer switch. I'm studing how best to reinforce the footwell and still pick up the extra space. Anyway, just wanted to share the observation.
Cheers All!

Would removing that panel allow you to reposition the pedals? That's the only way I could see to gain any leg room really.

Hi Drew: I haven't worked out the pedal location issue as yet but believe changes can be made without body mods. I'll post some pics if I pursue this to show what I did - of course I am open to suggestions!
