We got the first of the all new, bigger than big, 07 tundras today. a V6 regular cab (nice, roomy, big bed) and a 4.7 V8 double cab! Wow! that thing is huge. At least for Toyota. It's definatly as big as the F150/ Silverado/Ram crowd.
It's got scads of power (and we haven't even seen the 5.7 yet) and this one is trimmed out with all kinds of goodies in the form of the "limited" package. Power heated seats, Navigation, 20" aluminum wheels, backup camera, power folding mirrors, to name a few...
I'm truly impressed with these beasts so far. We'll see what happens. But I'd expect that you'll all start seeing them showing up in your neighborhoods soon.
Toyota tec signing off!

Banjo --

Yes indeed!!! After seeing press photos for what seems like a full year, I finally saw one on the road yesterday. As I approached it, all I could think was "[censored], that thing is HUGE!"

Personal opinion was that it looked much better in the flesh than it did in pictures. It's much like the BMW 7 series back when it debuted with the Bangle butt -- in photos the angles were wrong, the perspective not right...in the flesh, it looks muscular.

The decision to go huge was, IMHO, very smart. Big and powerful (with the top-end V8) makes the Tundra a Silverado and F150 killer. By being bigger, more powerful, able to tow more and with the perception that out-the-door the Toyota's build quality will be better, I think you can bet on significant share of the market going to the Tundra.

Yep, saw one this weekend as well. When I first saw it, my first thought was... "what the heck kinda huge truck is that?" The Toyota badge looked so out of place on that large of a vehicle that it took a few seconds to realize that it was the Toyota badge!

But then again a lot of vehicles look big thru the windshield of a TR8. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

...gas prices just went up again...

We got a TRD edition one with the 5.7.
381 HP over 400 ft lb of torque! it flat out hauls!!!!
Price of gas went up again doc... Cause these things are gonna be sucking thier fair share (if not more)

The one I saw was a TRD, as well. My guess is that those were the first to ship, since they're perfect for test drives and putting on dealer floors.

Saw one at a gas station yesterday...Wow! But the thing I find with the truck market is that a good percentage of buyers have developed loyalty to one of the big three already so it's gunna be tough for Toyota to get the 'life time' truck owners. I do see alot of first time pickup buyers getting into the Toyota though.

Haven't seen one in person yet, but I can imagine that there is good market for these, even with the high gas prices. My father-in-law bought a Tundra a couple years ago--wanted a V8 truck to pull their camping trailer. I've used 2 twice now to bring home LBCs, and it was a great vehicle.

The folks who have lost faith in the domestics and still want a full-sized truck will be lining up for these, methinks.
