Ah yes, a Bond Equipe

Quite a rare car on this side of the ocean, I know of a few kicking around in various places over here, haven't ever seen one though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Maybe I'm in pursuit of too much perfection, but I want to see as many unique British/Euro cars as I can in my lifetime, and I'm not happy with my current count at present... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And a little known fact... There were a small number of Bond Equipe's sold (as LHD) in Canada during the late-1960's

There were a few LHD cars sold in the US as well. I'd have to ask the seller for the VIN on the title; I seem to remember that Bonds used the engine number as part/most of the VIN. I think the seller is incorrect about the original motor being a six; that was a different Bond model. But these GTs did use the Vitesse dashboard, mostly to provide a tachometer for what originally would have been a Spitfire engine.

Looks like a Citroen that was culled from the herd to keep the genetic codes going. Neat, but ugly. I agree with sherlock on the being able to see as many odd english cars as possible, but ewwwww. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Why do people remove all the glass from rare cars and then leave them out in the rain for weeks/months/years?

I'm just askin'.

The only thing missing here is a maple tree growing through what's left of the floor pans.

Or Herald meets Vitesse?

These cars were interesting. They used Herald underpinnings, doors, and scuttle. You can see the Spitfire/Herald hood latches in the pictures.

This car probably had a Vitesse 6 cyl originally. Earlier Bonds used the Herald/Spit 4 cylinder.

The "Bond" refers of course to Lawrie Bond, who also brought us various motorcycles and microcars, including (with a fellow named Charles Panter) the Berkeley.

They occasionally referred to James Bond" in their advertising (not here, though) and joked about offering an ejection seat.

John, correct about the Herald/Vitesse connection, but not about the 6 cyl. That came just a bit later, with a greatly restyled body, notable for a steeper-raked windshield (glass taken from the big Triumph 2000 saloon) and a generally somewhat cleaner shape. Remember, the full name of this eBay Bond should include the nomenclature "GT4S"! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
