I did the same thing when I used to buy quanity from a Australian parts supplier who require wire transfers, but the bank, all banks still jack the exchange rate a bit, this also happens when you say for example buy parts from the UK with a Visa. Bottom line, one can never get the posted exchange rate, it doesn't exist for you and I.
 
I buy parts from Oz all the time, have for 18-19 years, altho fortunately the amount has dropped significantly since October.
What you are quoted, no matter the exchange rate, you get nailed on your credit card for an "International Transaction Fee", on $3K US it works out to close to $90 US.
You have to amortize that into the final costing, along with International Shipping charges.
 
It's just the cost of doing business -- in this case, I figured those extra charges (along with the customs) into the cost of the car before I decided if it was wroth purchasing. In this case, it was still a reasonable deal.
 
Not sayin' it ain't.
Just relaying actual costs I have seen.
