test drive after 2 years

Took the car on a short test drive today. About 100 miles round trip. I was pleased with the overall performance.

The overdrive worked well.

Two things that concern me. It still has that random miss fire and I have a coolant leak near the front of the engine on the passenger side. It was getting dark so I did not get to check things out.

I must get some other projects done that I have been putting off and I will get back on the car.

What a blast to be driving it again!!!!!!!

Pete

Great! Don't put it off for another two years!!

Congratulations on getting the car back on the road. The coolant leak could be coming from the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump. It's possible that the seals have dried out over the years from lack of use. It could heal itself with use or you may need to rebuild/replace the pump. Other than that check all the hose clamps and hope it's not your head gasket :driving:

The leak is coming from the weep hole in the water pump. The PO threw in a box of parts when I bought the car and there is a water pump in the box. I am going to put it on tomorrow. I don't know if it good or not. I figure I will give it a try before I order a new pump.

Are there parts available to rebuild the pump? If the pump that I put on is OK I might rebuild the other as a spare.

Thanks, Pete
