Tell me this is not a big deal

Well after rebuilding my 1275 twice (don't ask) and getting it to run pretty well I now get an occasional screeeetch when depressing the (new) clutch.
The release bearing is also new as is everything else except (wait for it...........) yes, you were right! the pilot bearing.

The !$@^**% thing looked fine and I know, I know, I should have changed it but it did look fine, honest.

So now is there anything to do other than just drive it (my preferred approach) and use the clutch as little as possible. It doesn't do it all the time just occasionally when I sit at a light with the clutch engaged, which I don't do very often anyways.

A brand new pilot bearing, unless a roller type, will make that noise. IMO you have nothing to worry about. And besides, there will be no damage to other components if it does fails.

Ah words to soothe my tired (of pulling the engine) soul.
Thanks and I will drive it like a rental cuz that's the way they should be driven

Don't been driving a rental all week and had an altercation with a picnic cooler at 100 kmph - not much left of the bumper cover

:nonono:

Never mind the bumper, how are the picnickers? You know JP, if you're going to drive through the park, you should try to keep it under eighty!

I must concur! There ARE easier ways to kill ants and other picnic pests than with automobile tires and body parts moving at 100km/hr!!

I second the don't worry about the noisy pilot bushing.
I will not hurt if it fails, just make more noise.
And yes, new ones make noise sometimes and sometimes noisy pilots bushings stop making noise. Mine stopped after about 200 miles. It was new.

If you don't like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk
