I need a compression check on my engine. My cheap guage is giving me uneven readings.

Any other suggestions?

have you checked it for leaks? that is one of the biggest problems we have with test equipment at work

buy another cheap one?

Most of the time a compression gauge goes bad be cause the srader(SP) valve in the end that screws into the spark plug hole is leaking. It the same type used in valve stems.
