How about these? There is another pair on the other end of the dash. Brooklands screen mounts?

My guess for the first is that it is a piece of mounting hardware for a mirror. My TD doesn't have them, and has no threaded holes in that location. The second could be anything, but clearly isn't original.

Bill,
Don't know much about TDs, but might the first photo be a point to attach a tonneau cover? Maybe a tab would wrap around the windshield frame and snap on there? Just a guess...
Harry

Edit: Sarastro's post about a mirror base makes a lot of sense. I was thinking the part was a bit smaller?

Yep, definitely both aftermarket; mounting tabs on the dash are garbage so I would worry about them much. The thing on the windshield looks like it may be a mounting for a small spotlight? Old cop cars and such had a lamp like that so the driver could reach out of the window and swivel it around....Just a guess though.

This is a restored police car. Look at the spot light and notice it sat on the passenger side. Mount looks similar, just located differently. Interesting. If I had your car, I'd see if it has any history. Who knows, you never know what you might find. PJ

The mount does look similar.....I have the NC DMV registration back to about to 1955 and don't recall anything unusual....I'll go back and check it again......the last owner was Beverly Jergenson, sister of NFL quarterback Sonny. She used it as a utility vehicle in the wilmington, NC Azalea Parade for many years....

Small world Bill, this is my wife at Wilmington NC, winning a first in class with her car. I believe this was in 2008. PJ

Very nice! Looks like the show was at the USS North Carolina .....I believe I was there that year....by the way, I have a very good friend just down the road from you in Salina....I am usually out there one or two times a year...his name is Tim Bodine.....he is interested in old British bikes (he has a couple) and air planes.....wonder if you know him?

Yup, The North Carolina!

Tim Bodine,
Don't know him Bill, I go through Salina quite often and I am a flyer also since 1964. Amazing how small of a world this is, especially with the Internet. PJ
