Tata / Jaguar /LR?

I heard on NPR today that the Indian company, Tata may buy Jaguar / Land Rover from Ford.
This may end up a better move than it looks...Tata has an interest in European cars and might somehow support the Brit heritage of the Jag / LR more than Ford (or a potential Chinese buyer). I guess we'll have to see.....

Here's more on it:

Some of you may recall that about 5 years ago, Tata talked about producing a "new" MG Midget based on their "Tata Aria" roadster. They seemed very interested in building a sports car. The plan fell through, but here is what Tata was working on:

And, here's the Tata Aria

TATA and Mihandra are in the running in bids for the Jag/LR according to AutoWeek. The St. Louis Post on Sat. reported that TATA Group was interested and two former Ford execs, Nick Scheele and Jacques Nasser are bidding independently. Ford also says they will have no announcement until later this year are early next year.

I hope that whoever buys Jaguar does a better job than Ford, whose only interest was to have a "trophy", and they did nothing for Jaguar, except to run Jaguar to the ground with the X type Taurus and except to start passing "edicts" forbidding after-market companies from reproducing Jaguar logos/badges. How stupid! Great companies like MOMO, MOTOLITA, and every other accessories companies had to stop making horn buttons or any accessory with the Jaguar Leaper or Growler under threat of legal action by ford's attorneys! HOW Ridiculous! And of course, Ford is not making the horn buttons or any other accessory available either. They're too busy deciding when to go bankrupt and planning how to stick American Taxpayers with the bill.

We should all party and celebrate when Jaguar is finally separated from ford.

I couldn't believe it when Ford bought Jag, but figured it was better than the junk GM was selling for emissions and electronics. I used to drive Fords, switched to Jag, then Ford bought Jag. I still have the old 58, but switched my daily drivers to Land Rover and Ford bought LR. Haven't figured next move only Mercedes and Porsche probably will never be attempted by Ford. Ferrari was back the the late 60-70s.
