As we speak, I believe Michael Oritt is navigating in the 2007 Targa Newfoundland in a '53 Healey 100 (see picture of it below). They are running in the "Targa" catagory.
Michael is member here. He and I have run in some of the same vintage events including the 2007 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix(he uses an Elva for racing).

Just flew in from Newfoundland and boy are my arms tired....

I sent several posts to the "Autox Team Healey" emailer list along the way detailing our progress (or lack thereof) during various sections of the Targa Newfoundland Rallye.

In any case car #201 (us) finished First In Class! We also were the co-recipients of the "Spirit of Targa" trophy which, based on votes of the other entrants, is awarded to the team that (paraphrase) "worked hardest to overcome adversity and finish the event".

We certainly had a lot of challenges. For example, the second night in Gander we removed the bent rear axle housing from the car and straightened it by placing it in two jackstands in an inverted position and lowering a Ford 250 on a four-post garage lift against the bends, then applying heat. Though the diff was a bit noisy toward the end we managed to finish the five-day event on Newfoundland's incredibly rough roads and ran most of the high-speed Targa stages within the time allotted.

I believe that readers of both "Healey Marque" and "Austin-Healey" magazines will in the next few months see articles written (from different sides of the cockpit) by both myself and Mike Salter.

This was a wonderful adventure and our completing the event is a testament to the toughness of the car not to mention our determination to finish.
