There's a cute little white Sprite for sale for $1200 down in Portland.

https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/car/390580414.html

I emailed the owner and asked what's wrong with it - here is her reply:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]
Before it went into storage it was smoking a bit. I had replaced the rings
prior to that and I think I got one in upside down or something. It ran
fine, but just smoked. It also needed a slave cylinder for the clutch (I
believe). It has been in storage now for quite a few years and would need
just about everything gone through. As I am sure you know about British
cars, you cant let them sit around. I cant guarantee that it doesnt need
this or that now. I have no garage and absolutely no time which is SO sad as
I love this car. It was a blast to drive & always got TONS of comments &
turned many heads.

It has some pretty cool custom parts including a fiberglass front end & rear
well flares. Big (for a spridget) wheels & tires.

The car is in SE Portland (east of 205). I am available in the evenings to
show it or I can arrange something during the day. Let me know what works
for you. Thanks Sarah
Re: 64 Sprite on Portland OR craiglist

Bonnet and flairs are really bad. Nice price and might be a great place to start what with tranny conversion might even have a 1275 and disc brakes as well.

Re: 64 Sprite on Portland OR craiglist

I replied to her & said I really wish she could keep it, here is her latest response:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]I do too, but I feel worse every summer day that goes by and it is sitting
there not cruising, top down. And I continually say, I am going to find the
time to fix it, and I dont. I bought it for WAY more than I am selling it
for hoping that someone will find the time to love it. The guy that built it
spent a TON of money on it. Apparently it has the top of the line everything
in it, so whoever gets it will likely get a few suprises (hopefully more
good than bad LOL). Let me know if you here of anyone... I have lots of
interest in it, but I want someone who is going to love it. Oh, plus, I
really could use the money too LOL.
Thanks

Re: 64 Sprite on Portland OR craiglist

More info from the seller:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]The kid who built it had lots of money & time apparently. He built it for autocross.

When I showed it to this guy who knew every Spridget in town (back when it was running), he said, "Oh that is the $50K Sprite".

And I would be the a$$ who has let the $50K Sprite sit around and become the $1200 Sprite.
Re: 64 Sprite on Portland OR craiglist

She is sounding like she might just keep it & try to fix it up and join up here.
Maybe a little encouragement is needed?

Her name is Sarah, put Sprite in the subject & email her - encouraging words about fixing it up and driving it and coming here for support would be great. This place is one great Spridget support group /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
