Tachometer problems

Hi all,

I tried to convert my RVI2401/00B Smiths tachometer to negative ground.

Since the inside of my tachometer was completely different from the schemes I've found online so far I wanted to reassemble it until I have a proper solution (will probably buy a new one).

However when disassembling the tachometer lying on it's front I heard two times something fall when unscrewing the back screws. The things that had fallen were small plastic black circles. When trying to reassamble it I could not find a logical spot for them however :S It also seems the inside gets too far to the back (far distance from the glass) even with the two black things put around the screw inside at the back.

Any suggestion where they belong?

That's different types of tachometers unfortunately. Can anyone tell me if it would kill my tachometer if I'd just try it in my (now converted) negative ground car? At this moment it's just an empty hole in the dashboard /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Those two black things are spacers or grommets. Hard to tell from the picture but is the hole the same size as the screw?

You need to see what they slip on or over. Things like this are more or less logical and when they have a lip on them as these do it is most likely to keep thme from going "on" something to far.

In picture one, do they fit over the two posts or holes on the right so to speak?

Are they hard plastic or more like rubber?

Look inside the case. Are there any marks that match the same size as the spacers or grommets?

Are thye where lights go through the case?

Do you have a picture of the case?

They logically go somewhere and it is just a matter of figuring where.

Any luck with those two pieces?

Sorry. Kind of. They are hard plastic and don't seem to fit properly anywhere. They fit kind of over the 2 plastic things near the screw holes at the top but then it still does not make sense cause the back is out of balance and one of them is kind of blocking a screw. I now just put them over the screwholes which I suppose should be fine. There is no color difference anywhere to indicate where it should fit.

I just suppose they're alright like this /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
