Hi,
The Tachometer on my '59 Bugeye has been working just fine. However just the other day is started reading funny. It goes to 0 when at idle and reading consistently lower than normal. Engine if running just fine. Is this most likely do to the gear box in the tach cable or could it be something else? The cable is conected correctly...

Check the cable

Take it off from the back of the tach and start the car and watch the cable go round

Took cable loose from back of tach and it does not turn at idle. Did not have time at lunch to do much else.

I would pull the cable and see if it's broken.

Cheers
