Tach not working [MSD Ignition system]

I am really liking this forum... new question. I have a MSD ignition on my 8 and have the magic box little MSD box that is supposed to make the tach work, alas it does work, up to 2000 RPM then it dies. I've had good luck calling the MSD hot line for advice/situations. I had spark plug problems and found out an MSD8 is to powerful for platinum spark plugs and blows the platinum right off the plug, got that from the factory rep.
