Today while running errands, on about the 4th time I started the car, the tach stayed at zero. I tapped the glass (patented pilot trick) and it sprang to life. The only problem was it was about 1000 RPM high. It seemed to always be about 1K RPM high for the rest of the day and jumped back and forth about 1500 RPM while the engine was running steady during cruise.
What gives?
