tach drive questions

I took my tach drive apart for my bugeye as suggested and re-greased it. My question is, is there a gasket between the two halves? If so, what thickness should be used? The reason I ask this is because after I cleaned and greased it, the gears worked great until I tightened it down.

No gasket on the originals. I mentioned using a gasket after removing material from each half of a new unit.

So....what's happening? You tighten the two halves together and the gears bind?

Can you post pics of the insides?

It really should be pretty smooth, although there will be a little drag from the grease. Check for something bent or not quite in the right place.
