Tab on rear brake plate - what for?

There is a small tab adjacent to the rectangular hole on the rear brake plate where the handbrake lever emerges. It has a small hole in it, that appears at one time to have been an anchor point for a spring. However, there is no part shown for such a spring, and I know not where the other end of any such spring might be attached. It's close enough to the handbrake lever to suggest that the two might be related, but I can't find any reference to such a spring. Any ideas? Thanks.

yes, it's a tab for a return spring for the handbrake. the spring attaches to a fitting on the rod. Just put mine on a week or two ago.

Now I see the Moss part numbers and illustrations for the clips and springs. They were just missing from my car. Not the only things I've found lacking. Thanks.

Hi Cutlass,
Here is a shot I have of my '67.

It's gotta be Cutlass, to hold up all that sod.--Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Hate to say it, but that photo shows a (relatively) clean area of the car. The rear of the back fender had so much dirt caked in, I was surprised I didn’t have a shrubbery growing out of the wheel well.

Ya know they can be steam cleaned or power washed.

Yep Jack, but then all them metal bits that the oil soaked dirt has been protecting just going to go out and start rusting.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Aye, true enough. Hate to get my hands dirty working on my toys though. In fact I don't even want this one wet.

Hi Jack,
In my defense, that was a reference photo before I stripped the car down. Rest assured it’s a lot cleaner now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif
