Just starting this thread to see how may of us T-series owners there on the BCF. In the past few weeks several have come up. Wanted to see how many will check out this post & show their cars. Post a pic and a brief description about your car/restoration. I know a few of you but lets encourage more T-series owners to post.

Here's mine.
1952TD had shipped to NY from Cali. Needs to be re-started & a good cleaning. May or may not restore.

Cheers.

Mine's in bodyshop right now..every piece of wood is new, every nut & bolt is new, suspension is new, drivetrain completely rebuilt, new leather waiting to go in, instruments redone by Nissonger, new wiring...new, new, new...now, we're stripping the old black lacquer & sand blasting all the pieces & parts...of course, everything was done prior to '99 & then she's just sat while I found somebody who I could trust to do the body. (wonder why we're so particular about these old cars & not our B's?)

I have 1.5 T-Series cars. No, one isn't half a car, it's my YB. For anyone not familiar with MG Y-Types, they are a 4-door saloon built from 1947 through 1953, which is what the TD was based on. The suspension and drive train are nearly identical. The biggest difference is the frame, body and interior. There was an awkward-looking convertible (tourer) built for a couple years also.

Here is my 1949 TC and my 1953 YB.

I've posted about this before...But I've wanted a TC since I was a young punk with an MGA hanging around at MG meets, at the time(early 70's) the only MG club around here was a T series register...So thats where I was, but I could never afford a T car. Once I had some money behind me, and the kids where old enough to help out I started looking for a TC. After a few years of looking for that perfect project I was contacted by a gentleman in Bermuda who used to live in Toronto in the 60's and remembered exactly where a TC was sitting in an old garage(even remembered where he and a friend has played x's and 0's on the fender). With his instructions I found the garage, but the TC was gone - and nobody in the house knew anyting about it. A few months later I got an email from a widow who was selling her husbands car, I drove the 2 hours north into ski country and immediatly bought the car. I noticed a x's and o's game scratched into the paint on the right front fender and asked the lady if she had once lived at the address I had from the guy in Bermuda - sure enough Mr. Bermuda had been right about it the whole time, the car had just been moved since the 60's(understandably /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) Unfortunaly I lost the email address of the gentleman in Bermuda so I never got a chance to thank him.
The car is currently undergoing a complete concours restoration, most people that see the peices I have completed in the last 5 years think I've finally lost it...and it's kinda hard to argue that when your polishing the baffles INSIDE the oil pan! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Heres two pic of before I torn into it....I wish I had taken more:

This car only has 18,000 original, documented, miles! and I am the third owner. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

NICE looking TC!

I looked at a '48 TC earlier this year...but passed.

I have a couple of TDs....alas, they are Hubley's!

You're redoing THAT!?!

I kinda forgot to mention...As a young punk I did own two other T-series...But not driveable ones, I had a pink TD basket case...and a BRG TF with no motor/tranny The TF was sold to a friend who has just last year(30 years later) completed the resto and it is gorgeous!...He trailored it to British car day here last year.

I originally intended to "just get it running" BUT you know how that goes....I did get it running, but torn it apart before I got to drive it(no brakes). It did need at the very least a cosmetic restoration....The paint was chipped EVERYWHERE from 40 years of sitting in various garages, and one rear wing was pushed in bit(apparently it rolled out of the driveway into a Beetle - you can see the damage in the second pic). Should be about 5 years till completion.

Photobucket helps that one out. If you have pictures on their site, you can cut & paste right into your post. You have the option of URL, TAG or IMG. Copy & paste the IMG. I have to make my picture thumbnails so that they are not ENORNMOUS.

I love your passion. great vehicles.

I have to ask, what is the body flex?

Patrick

Used to have a 53 TD as a kid, was a blast driving around with the engine cover off, showing off the chromed mechanicals

SIX! Only 6! I would a thunk we'd have more T owners than this.

Dave, Signing up for Photobucket is easy and is free. I like the idea of having my pics there as well as on my PC in case the PC goes belly up like my PC is about to dobut... My wife surprised me last night. There is some new fangled computer jammy in my office with a remote control. Darned thing gets TV and radio stations. 19 flat screen too. Early xmas present. Ohh Ahh.

Anyway COME ON T-OWNERS!!

Wow! T-Series stuff on a decidedly B-World site. Mine is a 1952 TD. Good wood, no rust, runs well, a fine 10 footer. So what if its not very fast. When I'm driving the TD I'm not in a hurry. Don't want to drive it on 4 lane roads. Country roads are where it belongs and where it is the most fun, though smooth road are nice. Let's face it, its not the most comfortable car, especially for the age which most of us have reached (and for those of us who are 6' and up). Lots of people giving the "thumbs up" sign, asking what is it, and saying "nice car!!" Every ride is fun. Isn't that why we have them?
