Is it failure, success, copping-out, or just making a sound decision?
Anyway you look at it, I'm on my way back to Toyota. I've been a year and a half at an independant shop 22 miles from home after making a break from the Toyota dealership. The deal was a good one to start, but the economy tainted it a bit. long story short, I've been losing my shirt, and driving 44 miles a day to do it.
Things have been slowly improving, but I've been offered my old position, that would be making a bit more a week, and only driving 3 miles one way to get there..
Reeling in, and hoping for the best. My mission is to get brushed back up on the latest in hybrid technology and get back on the track to being a Toyota Master Diagnostic Tec. I only need 10 months of time with Toyota to reach that, and then that'll be another pay raise.
My old boss and shop foreman really wanted me to come back. I love a good diag puzzle, and the foreman is the only other diag guy they got for the really quirky problems. He and I worked well togeather, so it ought to be good to be back.
I liked being the hybrid guy before too. I'll be back in my element (or should I say Prius).
But on the flip side, leaving the shop I'm at now is tough. I like it there, and I like the people. I actually wound up giving a 3 week notice. (they need me this week due to staffing glitches) so this, my final weeks mission, is to try and get our younger tec on his best footing to do well before I leave.
It's gonna be a busy week. no time for any "short-timer" mentality.
Here's hoping the CJ'alopy holds togeather for the toolbox run this weekend.

with all the comments. Best of luck and isn't nice to know that you are 'wanted' and leaving a job on such good terms. It speaks volume for your ability. Okay, okay, you can take your head out of the clouds now! Enough ego boosting here.
