Synthetic oil ?

Crisis, I think that's what Dave meant,at least that's what I took it for

Gimme a break!
Yeah, really!
Anyone happen to know the pour point of Synpower 20W50?

I looked it up : -36C (which is about -33F). I'm not driving ANYTHING in that kind of weather!

I used to run straight 40 weight year-round in my TR3A in northern IN. Certainly not as cold as Canada, but the car always started (once I put in a big enough alternator to keep the battery charged).

I am so glad there are not catalytic converters on diesels.(not that they would work anyway)

As of Jan 2007, heavy duty diesels required catalytic converters and virtually all of the smaller ones will have them soon also... The amount of zinc in heavy duty diesel oil is going way down.

All the more reason to go to the oils being made for Classic cars, like the Syntec and Moss branded with the extra ZDDP. Made for cars with NO convertors.

Only problem with the syns.
My lbc tinkles harder on the parking space.

Have you tried the Valvoline? I've never seen an increase with it, and twice now I've seen a distinct decrease (tho not on LBCs).

AFAIK, The wrecked TR3A still had the original rear seal in it's 56 TR3 engine (literally a cornfield find) and only used about 1qt/4000 miles. Definitely marked it's spot, but didn't rust either

Randall, haven't tried VAl.,as I use Brad Penn

Speaking of Penn, hey Ian, any word on the dino oil?

No problem, just don't want to leave you hangin. Won't need it for a little while yet.
