Sway Bar Link Arm

Last weekend I put on a 7/8" sway bar and all brand new components to attach it to the car from Victoria British. The ball joint on one of the link arms came apart. These things don't look very strong at all, does anyone sell better links (ie using all metal with nylon ball bushings). Otherwise I might have to build my own.

You can simply use Rod Ends available from most any engineering supplier (like www.mcmaster.com) or probably the hardware store. My aftermarket bar uses a par of rod ends on each side, one with female and the other male joints. Here's a quick link to what they look like.

They're also known as "Rose Joints" and "Heim Joints" because of their British and German (I think) manufacturers. (sorry I didn't respond sooner, but computer wasn't on the internet and I don't actually know my password so I couldn't reply!) These are maybe $8 each and you'll need four. They're of very high strength and will almost certainly fit right in as a replacement. The only comment is that you'll need to drill a hole through a stock bar to accommodate it, and may need to weld a plate on the end for this hole, I don't immediately recall what the stock bar looks like, but aftermarket bars should have provisions for heim joint links (a hole in each end).
