I figure the springs are getting tired on my B. Being a 77 it has the increased ride height that goes with the bumpers. I would like to keep the bumpers but put the height back to where it belongs. In planning for that I've been reading the speedpro book on suspension. My question is: Is it ok to just change out the springs and zip merrily on my way, or is there more to it than that? The book says some scary stuff about geometry and fiddling with ride height.
 
So, Matt, do I understand that you want to lower it to chrome bumper hieght?
 
as a user of 2" lowered springs on the front of my '76 B, I can vouch for it making a better handler. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Just make sure you reposition and/or shave the bump stops to allow for suspension travel. I found that after installing 2" lowering springs up front the car was nearly riding its bump stops, and did not make for a nice ride at all.

That's my current idea. I do intend it for road use, and the roads around here wouldn't accomodate much lower than that.

Plus I have yet to do the right thing and check my spring sag. I may already be at chrome bumper height. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
