I would have taken that as some kind of message and become a hermit monk........ I would gone to some remote place, like Bikini Atoll, to meditate and reflect.....

or, I would have bought a lottery ticket.

I met a doctor in Hawaii that survived the Hiroshima bombing as a little boy. He was being punished and had to ride his bike to school. He was running late and took a short cut down an alley as the bomb detonated. The two buildings on either side of him collapsed and he was caught in the rubble (all brick). He said he was buried for over a day and that all of his family in Hiroshima had been killed. When I met him, he had become a naturalized citizen of the United States.

..wonder how we missed that 'un TWICE !!!!

Wonder how many guys we got left from Pearl Harbor?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the oldest surving recipient of the CMH from WWII can't fly a flag in his front yard.

That was settled. The council backed down after the press got ahold of the story. They made a "one time" exemption.

We had a flag case just like that here in Fl. too! Resolved the same way!!! My next door neighbor (when I lived in NJ, and also an inlaw), still alive, survived Nagasaki, lost her entire family, married a US serviceman and has lived here ever since! A real sweet lady!!

Just got a chance to read the link about Yamaguchi.

Amazing story!
