Surgery this afternoon, not driving lbc for awhile

I've got advanced bilateral carpal tunnel.
The good news is microsurgery has improved a lot lately!

I got a call this morning saying I can get the surgery today - I was really hoping to get it done on both hands this year and this will make that happen.

I have no idea how I'll feel after, so if I don't post here a lot just know I'm lurking.
I may do some left handed typing, so bear with my spelling and such for a while!

I get a paid leave of absence for 4 to 6 weeks so that's going to be nice.
What won't be nice is dealing with anything that comes up at home that needs my hands to repair - hopefully that's going to be kept at a minimum!!

"Enjoy" the rest - trust all will be well!

Mickey

Best to ya Rick.

Best to you, do what the docs say and heal up.

Good luck on the surgery.
My wife has had this done on both wrists.
Great relief.
Now when she feels a twinge of soreness coming on she wears one of those special wrist braces for carpal tunnel syndrome.
She says the ones with the metal bar inside the brace works best.
Enjoy your medications and take it easy.
Don't push recovery too soon.

Just don't push it - take the time you need - use a pencil in your mouth to post (or put your son to work)

Thanks guys, at least I have an accommodating employer, just filled out my time sheet for the month and will be going home in 20 minutes. Surgery is at 3PM (about 3 hours from now).

Best of luck.
Currently, I've got a low-back disk bulge going on, and I'm not supposed to drive the Sprite as it heals. This old age stuff is the pits (as this is yet another flare-up for me). Although I'm using a lumbar support (which helps), using the clutch isn't fun.

Rick, the carpal tunnel release surgery is "easy" for experienced surgeons nowadays. They do loads of it and many doctors are adept at it.

You're gonna love not having the numbness, pain, etc., in your hands.

Good luck to you, please let us know . . .

Best of Luck to you. It is heck getting old, isn't it? When I was a lot younger I used to wonder why all the old guys could talk about was their latest medical problem. Now that I am one of those "old guys", the subject is more interesting. Except Man Parts. Knives in close proximity to Man Parts gives me the willies. At least no one is writing in to tell us about their prostate surgery!

In the waiting room now. Just hanging out waiting for the IV.

Well that was interesting.
Glad I have my left hand so I can type a little bit still.
The anesthesiologist did a great job, I was only aware of a little bit of the work at the end.
When they wheeled me out I had a conversation with one of the nurses about Sprites and Midgets - she used to own an MGB!!
Interesting that spridgets were the subject of my first conversation after waking up!

I'll be you're still high.
