Super Sprite

I've got the Spridget running. It doesn't sound too bad, so far.
These are pics were taken after I backed it out of the garage and hung on my home-brew "Super-Sprite" front fenders (one bolt each). I built them as a lark from some old beat up fenders that I have laying around. I may hang them on the car for some upcoming vintage events.
I'll try to get the graphics and various other stuff ready for my first event, but I won't make the Hershey Hillclimb this year. I've been sick with a bad sinus infection and I've lost too much time to get things truly ready by next week. The regular Spridget fenders will go back on this week (I can't race it in my regular EMRA sprint class with these "aero" fenders).

that's pretty slick! got any pictures/description about how you did it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I didn't take any pictures.
Actually, it wasn't all that hard. The worst part was getting the two fenders more-or-less straight (both were pretty banged up). Once I got them close, I marked an area on the top of the left fender with a magic marker and cut it off with a Sawzall (I cut off the area that forms the "headlight rise"). Basically, when I was done, I had a big tear-drop shaped opening in the top of the left fender. After this, I cut a cardboard piece to slightly overlap (1") the opening. When I was happy with it, I cut a piece of galvanized roofing steel (cheap) in the same shape, placed it under the opening, and pop-riveted it in place. I used a little Bondo to hide the seam, but let the rivets show through (looks racey). Once I had the left fender done, I measured it at various points and copied these measuments onto the right side fender.
I doesn't look that great up close, but it was a fun/easy project that I knocked together in one weekend. Now that I've done it, I was thinking of making nicer versions of these fenders (and a grill with 7" headlights in it).
