Sunken hood/bonnet

I took the bonnet off of my 66 sprite for some engine work and then when I put it back it seems that the back sits too low. I put the washers in the back end of the brackets but it still looks too low. Did I put the square washers in the wrong place?
thanks for any suggestions.
