I need to get a new soft top for my bugeye, so a few questions. First of all, when you buy a new top, do they normally come with the internal metal strips in the front and rear? Can anyone recommend a source they are happy with? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

When I bought mine it didn't have any metal parts at all, so needed the front and rear bars (only rear on a 9 stud presumably) and all the Tenax and lift the dot fasteners.

I bought the Moss top and am happy with it. I think Moss provided the snaps for the top, but not those on the body. I had to get my own metal rods.

Take a look at what AH Spares has to offer.
I bought a top from Prestige for my '78 Midget and I like it but the threads along the top of the back window came out after only 3 years.
I like the zip down rear window, but that's the part where the thread failed.

The metal bars don't come with the top unless you order them separately.

Ask Frank (Spritenut) and he will be able to tell you what size bars to get - these don't have to be bought from a British car supplier.

Some tops come with all the fasteners and some do not.
You should ask when you are talking to the supplier, also be aware that most of them will mail you a sample of the material they use.
