As I moved the MGB from under the canopy to accomodate a L.O.F. for the Spider I had a chance to observe the differences in the two as a "seat of th' pants" comparison... The B is raw, throaty, responsive in an almost "go-kart" kinda way... Noisier in the cabin (she's an excuse: the interior ain't done yet), but requires more "attention" to maneuver properly... more "waspish" *if that's a description). The Spider feels somehow *larger* in comparison. Slower to respond to throttle, not nearly as tight a turning radius. Both have their advantages... I like the long legs on the Alfa for trips, but in all honesty I'd take the B on the same journey and likely enjoy it more as a driving experience. The B is more "blatty". More driver's car, I guess.

...just an observation, FWIW. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No interior here either. I love the "heated seat" from the exhaust, as well as the hot air thrown up through the tranny tunnel from the spinning driveshaft. It's also easier to hear the blatty exhaust note at 3500 RPM, or the whistle of the air cleaners at around 2750. Who needs a stereo?

hehehehehehe.....& people keep wondering why I come back to MG's...

If that's the comparison between the Alfa and the "B", then you'de go nuts in a TR. I've always felt that the MG was kinda "sewing machiney" compared to the TRactor motor. Don't get me wrong. I like both (heck, all 3) of these cars for they're own charecteristics. I can't honestly claim a bias twards one marque over the other. I don't know if I could ever decide between a TR2-3 or an MGTD or MGA and not have severe regrets over the one I diden't choose

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Although I like the MG looks alot better....I gotta admit the Triumph's have a great feel...Especially the 6's....I love those, and miss mine so much /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

DocE- I gave up a '59 1300 Guiletta to buy my first Dart in '61, and have never wanted to go back to eyetalion since. There are a lot of the same quirks, and some others weirdly unique to the marques. The Alfa seemed to be really smaller & more fragile than the Dart, never did a comp on the specs to see if reality or impression. But...you have the advantage of having the choice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

First Alfa was a 1300 Junior... second was a 1750 GTV, third was a 1600 GTV. After each one I'd say: "No MORE Eye-tie cars! No MORE metric and SAE fasteners inna same garage! I'm stayin' with all English cars!"

Now it's this Spider with a Weber'd up 1750. I've had an Alfa in hand CONTINUOUSLY from the mid-'70's...
