SU H6 Carb, Float Bowl Mounting Bolt

Aloha All,

The float bowl mounting bolt on one of my H6 SU carb has worn threads. I am trying dress up the threads, but before I do I want to identify the size and thread pattern for both the bolt and the hole carb body. It would appear to be either 7/16 inch or 11 mm. The thread pattern seems to be about 16 per inch which is not a standard 7/16 size (14 TPI coarse and 20 TPI fine). In metric 11 x 1.5 would seem closer since 1.5 converts to about 17 TPI. Does anyone know what size bolt is specified?

The H6 carbs used only British Standard threads, not metric nor SAE/unified. Although I don't have one handy to check, from your description I would guess you're looking at 7/16" BSW (British Standard Whitworth) threads.

New bolts are available; P/N 503811 @ TRF (currently on sale for $5.85).
