Greetings,

Just wondering if anyone out there knows a good place to get the internals to an SU pump. I have a couple here that I have opened up, and they need gaskets, and the valves.

I see VB has the parts, but I was hoping for someone else.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Burlen Fuel Systems? (successor to SU, has a great interactive parts website you can order from) They are in England, google and you should get them.
 
Ron - I think that yo will find V/B to be as good as it gets unless you are ordering a large number of parts. While Burlen Fuel Systems has all of the parts you will ever need, they also have a ÂŁ6 minimum shipping charge on orders ÂŁ50 and under. You might check with Jeff Zorn at LBC https://www.lbcarco.com/ and see if he can get the parts from V/B and pass them on to you at a better price.

Joe Curto used to sell components for the SU fuel pumps. I know he handles the carburetor lines. Might check with him....
 
Price the parts, and then compare to off-the-shelf modern equivalent. Repair kit $70 and no guarantee you won't need something else, or $70 (or less) at local parts store for universal 4-7 psi pump with 1 year warranty.
 
Over the years I have gone through the bellows type of universal pump, as well as the solid state box pumps. I even worked at a parts store for a while, and ran several different kinds of pumps, and all eventually failed.

Call me crazy, but I think if the original pump that was in the car can be brought up to relatively modern design, such as electronics to replace the points, then I think I will stick with the SU.

I just hate to deal with VB. I guess it's time to talk with Joe.

While I was pondering this problem, I decided to rebuild a steering rack that I got recently out of a 74 B. No surprises there, I got the parts on order, so at least one project will get finished. :smile:
 
I went straight to Burlen Fuel Systems for a brand new electronic SU pump. Great service, even across the pond.
