Stubborn Water Pump

Looking for some advice please? I need to remove the water pump from my BN6. It's the 2600 6 port engine. I removed the radiator, the fan and fan belt without difficulty, but the water pump & pulley has got me. The pulley is a screw on type and I got that bolt out and I removed the four nuts from the pulley to the block but the water pump won't budge. Can it just be frozen or is something else holding it, like a set screw or something? I was tempted to try the BFH but only want to rebuild it not replace it. Any and all help apprecitaed.

Charlie;
You have the early style, as my 61 3000 has. I don't remember how many bolts hold the pump to the front of the block, but if you are sure they are all removed,there is nothing else holding it, so you'll have to carefully tap and pry it off. Someone may have been too happy with permatex in the past. A little heat may help.
There are two bearings that are easy to remove and/or replace, but the spring loaded carbon seal is not available for these early pumps.(Last I knew about 2 years ago) The later ones are a different size, and will not work, I tried once. If it is not badly scored, you may be able to clean everything up and reassemble the seal dry. Pack the bearings with grease, but do not use anything on the carbon seal. Once assembled, spin the shaft with a drill for a minute or two to seat the carbon seal before reinstalling on the motor. Unfortunately, I do not know anyway to check the seal before reinstalling. Mine weeps a little bit after being stored long term, but stops after driving it. I did find an early nos pump a few years ago as a spare at a Conclave vendor's table.
