I finally got a chance to start digging into the GT6 I bought back in July. It has had a very high, floaty idle since I bought it (1100-1400 RPM) that I believe I’ve isolated (at least in part) to a significant vacuum leak at the base of the rear carburetor. Some investigation found the gasket between the carb and manifold spacer was installed “flipped” with the elongated cut-put open to air on the back side, leading to a large open hole for unmetered air access.
Before I put a new gasket on and hope for the best…
Clearly the cut-out channel should align with the port for what looks like the air bypass valve port at the rear. However, the gasket also covers, or at least partially covers, the two additional ports circled.
Of primary concern is the larger of the two, which seems to be only about 1/2 covered by the gasket.
Do these ports do anything or are they just machining holes? I assume, given that this is a pretty standard gasket, that I’m overthinking this but I’m also just curious what their purpose is for future reference.
