Stripe sizes

Well, my body guys are claiming they'll start painting my car next week. It's going to be Penske yellow with two silver stripes down the middle. What I'm not sure about is the size of stripes and space between them. I am going to have the Healey emblem on the hood. Will that have a bearing on it? I particularly liked a white '63' with blue stripes. Some pictures with dimensions would be helpful.

Thanks
Walter

You know that is a neat program.

I tend to like wider combinations in striping also! Here is a white with blue stripe combo that I thought looked great!

On Bugeyes I tend to like the wide stripe flanked by pin stripes. On other spridgets I prefer two wide stripes similar to the one Mike posted.

I painted mine BRG with white stripes as so:

I can measure the width of the strips and the spacing if you are interested.

The stripe machine is very cool. It got me thinking black pinstripes might look good bordering the stripes. I'm headed toward the Bugeye and race car layouts. I'll lay it out with paper to get the dimensions.

Thanks for the input.
Hopefully my next question will be "how do you post a picture?"

Thanks for the plug Donn! I was just PMed by BillM on the subject and thought I would just cut and paste my repley to him.....

I have not ventured to offer the services on the forum for fear of violating Basil's rule about commercialism on the forum, but there are literally pages of colors available in vinyl to cut striping out of, solids, metallics and a variety of specialty vinyls (including gold leaf and carbon fiber, just to name a couple!) Many of them do not translate well to the computer screen for accuracy of hue and tone. Any local "fast-sign" type shop locally would have color charts (the main vinyl manufacturing suppliers being Calon, Avery and 3M)from which choices could be made! The key is to make sure that PREMIUM vinyl colors are being viewed, NOT "economy" grades! I can cut the striping to any width desired, in the appropriate lengths for each panel the stripe has to transit, and can provide do-it-yourself installation instructions for proper application. I have never taken the measurements for each of the LBCs to create "kits" for each make and model, cut to the owners width specs, but that is a an interseting idea that could be done through the membership of this Forum!!

PS: A "rough" idea of the colors available can be found on line! Here is one link!

I also like that combination.

Thanks guys. Ray, I really enjoy checking your web site now and then. I see we have some of the same favorite Sprites. I wish I had your energy, you're putting an amazing amount of work into it.

Walter...very sweet...I've considered for my 62 but it's SOOOOOO permanent....maybe looking at enough well done pics will eventually convince me........Maybe, I dunno, someday...probably....we'll see....

wow that is a sweet color combination! the picture from the front end made me drool. haha. I want a color combo of grey/silver for body with early ford engine blue thicker stripes to match the proposed engine paint (black, chrome, and ford blue..currently in the works). abe
