The Moss catalog shows a packing plate for the door striker plate that attached to the shut-face pillar. The Anderson/Moment book also talks about this for the BJ7 & BJ8's. However my question concerns whether the packing plate goes between the stiker plate and the aluminum trim plate or outside behind the fender? mac

As far as I know, the packing plate goes in the wheel well side, not next to the aluminum. I'm not really sure what the purpose of the plate was. It seems kind of useless on either side. I think if you put it on the door side that the latch would not mate properly with the striker. But???? - Anyone else know?

Yep. There ain't no room! I just did that last weekend and it is a tight fit with out any more stuff there. I put piping at the edge and that little bit at the edge raised the plate and caused a shut problem. I do believe the plate may be in the wheel well to keep the nuts from coming through. Mine had washers back there.

That is my belief too...
Assembly order:
striker/aluminum trim/aluminum spacer/steel shut pillar/tapped steel plate
