straw poll - snaps don't line up

Fitted a new top that was "lightly used" on another car. Really happy with the result but a couple of the snaps on the side 1/4 windows don't match up with the car...so:

-re-position the snap on the top? or...
-re-position the base on the car?

I'm leaning towards the car, even though it seems like more trouble so as to not put unwanted holes in the reflective strip.

Anyone else have to navigate this?

I don't care much for either approach - instead you might make some snap extenders.

I have made these for original tonneaus and interior parts that have shrunk to the point of no longer fitting.

I have done a permanent style using a sheet metal plate to locate the snap slightly:

I have also made removable ones that come off when not needed:

The latter is more discreet though much may depend on which way forces are pulling on that location.

THAT'S a genius idea! Will absolutely try that before the other 2 options. The hood will be pulling back and up but if there's enough tension on the extender, it should hold the right line, correct?

...alternatively, if there was an adhesive strong enough to hold the extender to bottom edge of the top, that would keep it from swiveling.
