Strange VIN

Try this one AN5L 24515. What the heck is the "L". Is a July 59 of course.
 
Well duh. When I try to check the VIN through any of the search sites it tells me a VIN must be 17 numbers long. Guess that's out.
 
Jack, when they changed over to the current style of numbering, they went to a 17 digit number. I guess the search sites aren't set up for us older car types.
And, your mystery VIN should be <u>H</u> AN5L, shouldn't it?

Bugeyes didn't have the 'H' -- that started with the first of the square cars if I remember right.
 
Noop, no H, VIN is right in front of me.
