Does anyone know what this steel bracket is on top of the box?
It came with my car but I assume it is not part of a TR3.

Looks like part of a garage door opener to me.
 
Randall's got it.

Even though it is not a car part, I carry one in my other British car as it let's me prop the bonnet in a full upright & locked position (worst case scenario, e.g. replacing H2O pump in a motel parking lot).

Ha ha. I knew I had see that somewhere. Thought it might have been from one of my past cars.
