So my wife is driving home tonight and as she is passing some houses on her right, she hears a "bang" and knew that something had hit her passenger door. No other car was involved!
At the moment that she heard the bang, she saw a lady on a riding mower. My wife stops and picks-up a very cleanly cut pipe. Seems the lady on the mower ran over the clean-out pipe sticking up on her lawn and the mower sheered it off and threw it into the road. My wife now has a badly damaged passenger door. The people in the house are supposed to give up their homeowners policy info on Monday.
Thank goodness no-one was hurt, but a very strange incident!

Bizarre! glad no one was hurt

I was standing at a light a few years ago. A guy with a corner lot was mowing his lawn. His mower picked up a rock and flung it into my windshield.

He was a decent guy and offered to pay on the spot. We ended up making a deal that he pay my deductible, which was fine with both of us.

Nial-
That was very decent of you to put it through your policy!
Hopefully, it will be settled through their homeowners policy and that will be the end of it. We did file a police report just in case.

JP- Thanks for your kind words!

I cringe every time I pass by someone mowing their lawn and blowing it right into the road. Especially when they've got the safety shield pulled back on a bungee cord.
I keep waiting for that rock or such to hit the car.

:iagree: Bingo!

When I'm cutting at the street end of the lot I'll stop moving when someone comes by. Never picked up anything yet, but why take the chance.

A couple of months ago my wife was driving on I40 in her BMWZ4 when truck in front of her ran over what looked like a half of an old lawn mower blade. She ran over the bouncing blade and it became impaled into the bottom of her cars floor, right behind the driver's seat.

I Always disengauge my blades when a car goes by. i had a friend who's son was hit in the head with a rock while he was sleeping in the back seat. Scary!

One thing that most of us take for granted is driving by the highway mowers, similar to bush hogs. Even with the chain guards on them, bottles and other debris can be thrown out. I try to stay as far away as possible from them. PJ
