this morning. Was discussing the block and boaring with the owner and how he would like to have the pistons so he could fit them properly. Etc, etc.

Before I knew it all the shop old guy employees were gathered around discussing what to do and how to overhaul the rods and the head and check this and that etc etc. Boy they were really into my little A40 and there it was in the middle of all this really neat stuff that they are building for the race track, etc.

What a nice bunch of guys and shop I found. They really wanted to be helpful.

The best comment I heard was one to another that this really needed to be done right or it would smoke a bit and they just hated it when restored cars smoked at all so were going to hand fit each piston and valve to insure that it did not. This was in a discussion amoung themselves, heck I could have not have been there.

You'll have the pistons very soon - didn't he also want the rings & bearings? Is he going to balance everything that moves?

Yep he is, but did not ask for those items, maybe he can get them. Although to think on it bearings and rings are not included in a balance job as I remember as they are precision items that are of the same weight, I think.

Bearings & rings are precision & are excluded from reciprocal balancing...I just figured he might want the rings/bearings to check clearances when boring/turning/polishing - though they're not necessary

We shall see when I show up with the pistons I expect.

I do know that I am going to need a cam bearing though, forgot about that. Oh well, no great rush, we will see what we will see.

&, he'l need the cam bearings to press in before he returns the engine to you for assembly

Oh yea for sure, but about the same time I will need all that stuff on the list so will hang on a bit till I get there.
Wife says time to get granddaughter a senior prom dress, sigh. Guess I need to wait till endish of month. Will advise Tony.

SWMBO!

Aye, she says I am going too fast on this project, now I spend too much time in the garage. Strange how that works.

Put a fridge, a TV w/DISH, & a couple of those folding captain's chairs from Pier One out there.....invite her to come out & spend some time with you....in the summer Jerri takes up residence in one of those chairs!

They were talking as if it was their engine and how they were going to make it right because it was so different and was not going to get beat up like most of their work. I think.
