Still around!

It seems like ages since I have logged on to BCF! Basil sent me an email expressing concern that I had not been heard from so I just wanted to pop in, say hello and let those who remember me that I am still around! Since I had to give up being self-employed and started working a regular job I have had precious little time to devote to LBCs and BCF (we are not allowed to enjoy social networks at work!). So much water has flowed under the bridge since I was posting regularly that it almost seems an impossible task to catch up on everything I have been missing here at BCF, but I have resolved to try to check in at least occasionally to see how the LBC crowd is doing. OBI (Old Bug I) has languished under a tarp for far too long now, and I hope as time allows to start trying to get him back on the road again so I am sure I will be seeking advice, etc. as I dive back into the joys of reviving a 52-year-old rust bucket.

Cheers to all!!
Mike

Great to hear you're OK.

Sorry to hear you're "working for the man" (like the rest of us).

Hang in there!

Good to hear you're alright. When you're ready to get back to work, we'll be here.

:savewave:

Mike! Good to see you again buddy (or should I say bugi). If you have a job where they don't let you access BCF, well then shoot, just quit!

You might want to show this to your employer, or maybe not.

That's interesting - and it makes sense to me. At my work, we are allowed to use our work computers for "minor, incidental" personal stuff, so long as we get our jobs done. I find having my browser opened to one of my favorite News consolidation sites is a nice diversion. Every so often, I'll pull it up and see what's going on in the world, for example. I also pop in to the BCF a couple of times a day, but don't spend more than a few minutes just to see if the thing is still up and running. (I can also access the site from my iPhone, which I do when I'm at lunch for example. I think the minor diversions do help take the stress level down and make me more productive.

I found this part of the article especially interesting:

"Lleras based his theory on the idea that our senses become used to stimulus. Take a room that smells strongly of coffee. If you stay in the room all day, the scent goes away because the brain is trained to respond to differences and not constants in the environment."

I think the same thing happens with sight. I have "floaters" in both eyes, but my brain as "filtered them out." Unless I'm really trying to see them, they just disappear.

That (floater thing) has been an issue driving from here to lower Florida for a decade now...

I lie. More like driving from there to HERE after dark.
