Spitfire Steve Sargis does it again in SPITFIRE!!!

Congrats to Steve but I hope the SCCA doesn't "reward" other Spitfire drivers with a 50LB weight penalty again.

Wasn't just running F-Production this year, not H-Prod too?

I don't think they'll put weight on him, they haven't in a few years. FP is very even and competitive now over several marques and models. He's been running a 1500c Spit in FP for several years now.

Steve was also running GT-Light in his 1296cc car, but had a DNF.

His 1500cc FP car is currently for sale. It is unquestionably the fastest, most developed Triumph Spitfire (or what's left of one) in the country, if not the world (I can't see how any other could be).

For a 1500 engine that won't rev, he's done pretty well.

This is all anecdotal, but that engine is very healthy. Steve has his own engine dyno, and he posted on the prod forum that he started the engine program 4 years before he unveiled it. It had at least as much as the FP Miata's in a straight line (to be fair, they are "limited prep" engines to the Spitfire's full prep), but I'm not sure how much weight and aero is part of that (it's a lot lighter and more aerodynamic than the Miata). Steve is making that power with a single 1 3/4" SU and stock valve sizes. I would love to see the intake manifold on that car. There is no doubt in my mind that it's making at least 155bhp.
