Steering Rack

I've been working on this resto. project for so long I am having trouble remembering where things go. There is a small spacer that fits between the front crossmember and the steering rack. but I do not remember which side it is supposed to go on? The pictures seem to indicate the drivers side however the rack seems to fit flater to the crossmember if it is on the other side. Can anybody tell me the purpose for said spacer and which side ir goes on? is it different for left/right drive cars? Mine is a left hand drive Bugeye/Frogeye thanks for the ususal help hope I can find a way to help others as much as you people help me!!!

Yes the spacer goes on the drivers side. It's purpose is to align the steering column with the steering box. If you look at the steering column end where it connects you will see that it is not a 90 degree angle. The shim 'mis'aligns the rack to offset for this misalignment. When reinstalling the rack do not tighten the mounting bolts fully untill after you connect the steering column shaft. There is some play built into the rack mounts and by attaching the steering shaft and then tightening the bolts everything will stay aligned.
